Malgudi Days
At the beginning when I started to read this book I felt a bit boring. But from the day Doctor's Day I gained my interest to read the book.
Malgudi Days is a collection of 32 short funny and interesting stories written by R .K. Narayan. The stories happen in an imaginary town called Malgudi in the banks of Sarayu (a river in South India). Even though it is common to call Malgudi an imaginary town, you will not feel imaginary while reading the book.
I will feel as though I am the character in the story myself while reading the book and I hope this must be the secret behind the success of this book. All the stories seem familiar but are vastly different. The stories are not adventurous nor mysterious but they deal with the simple life of village men and women which make the stories amazing to read and involve in to it completely. The stories instantly establish a relationship between the readers and the characters in the story. The story has an internal link to our real life as the story implies about the common people and the common issues and problems faced by them. Some stories are so humorous and some are so emotional. My most favourite humorous story which I liked was Father's Help. The story which I felt most emotional was Mother and Son. There is some kind of an amazing charm in all the characters of the book. My most favourite character is Swaminathan .Each is story is filled with humanity.
The main thing which I loved was endings of the story which were so special, which I had never seen in any book before. The author never reveals what happens at the end. This is so precious. I request all the readers need to read the book. You will have a good time reading this book.
This Book was prescribed to me by my English teacher Tamarai mam.
